L-Carnitine is a non-essential amino acid synthesised from Lysine & Methionine in the brain, kidney and liver. Carnitine is essential in converting long chain fatty acids into energy. Carnitine will improve athletic performance and endurance as well as assisting most muscle and heart disorders. The most major source of Carnitine in the diet are organ meats e.g.; liver. Vegetables, grains & fruits have little to no Carnitine present. Carbohydrates must be consumed with Carnitine (2-3 grams per dose for maximum benefit) along with at least 30-40 grams of carbohydrates and 20-40 grams of protein.
